Virgin martyr of Caudry, near Cambrai, France. She was the daughter of Humolin and Ameltrudis, and she fled a proposed marriage with Harduin of Solesmes. Maxellendis wanted to become a nun, and when she was discovered by Harduin and his escort, she fought to escape him. Harduin killed Maxellendis with his sword and was struck blind. His sight was restored when he knelt for forgiveness beside Maxellendis' coffin when her remains were retumed to Caudry in 673.
