Foundress of the Institute of the Daughters of Charity in 1798. Jane entered the Sisters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul but was forced to return to secular life by the French Revolution. In Besancon France, she started a school for poor girls which later became the Daughters of Charity. She was canonized by Pope Pius XI.
