Abbot, also called Theodore the Sanctified and Theodore the Holy by the Greeks. Born in the Upper Thebaid, Egypt (the southern area), he studied under the famed St. Pachomius at Tabenna, succeeding him as abbot about 347. His time as abbot was noted for his careful maintaining of order in the community and for his miracles.
