Obama abandoning hope
Obama message changes as fortune turns against him.
The President of Hope has become the President of Fear after becoming fearful himself. Obama nearly had the election won, when a lackluster debate performance opened the world's eyes. Since then, Romney has been surging in the polls and Obama's strategy has changed to one of fear mongering to keep his seat in the White House.
Obama has shifted from a message of hope to one of fear, reflecting his personal anxiety.
His entrance was upbeat and fun, as he ad-libbed with a member of the audience, but as soon as the teleprompters started rolling, Obama began to drone about how awful Romney is.
Obama went on about "Romnesia" a term his campaign coined because Romney was briefly mixed up about a detail during one of the debates. Obama and his campaign have stretched this just short of calling Mitt Romney a liar.
Of course, every rational person knows that politicians change positions, skew the facts, and sometimes do lie. However, functionally calling a candidate a liar who will say and do anything to get into office is the role reserved for Super PAC attack ads, and generally below the candidate himself.
It got worse. Obama told the crowd Romney would set the country back 50 years, to the early 1960s. This might not have been a particularly apt comparison, because the early 60s were a time of hope in America as progress was made in equality and civil rights. John F. Kennedy was president and many Americans were thrilled with him.
Of course, Obama was trying to say that people would lose their rights, without actually clarifying what rights would be lost. Would women see their salaries slashed under Romney? Would segregation come roaring back in the deep South? Would women actually be deterred from using abortion as birth control? Obama didn't dare specify, because the accusation is a lie in itself.
The fact that Obama would stoop so low suggests his campaign is running scared, and for good reason.
Polls now show that Romney, not Obama is favored to win the election. Romney has a narrow lead over Obama in the popular vote and has made gains among nearly every demographic since the start of October. In the vital swing states, Obama holds an eroding lead as Romney's momentum builds.
The Romney campaign has new donations, tens of millions, which will ensure he finishes strong. Obama on the other hand, is facing erosion of support.
In two weeks, this campaign will be history and Americans will say good riddance to the hoopla and drama. It is likely there will be a new President too. If that is the case, Obama cannot blame Romney so much as himself. Obama has had four years to change lives for the better, to build on his message of hope.
Americans are still hoping, but they seem to realize now, that hope will never be satisfied by Obama.

KarlVDH, I think the bigger joke is your post. You are trying in vain to catch spears and arrows for your Party of Death and Deceit and your HHS Mandate-in-Chief. It was your Party that 'Booed and Hissed' God 3 times. They paraded one sick anti-God abortionist after another at the podium. Mitt Romney on the other hand exulted God and the Primacy of Life.
David Moolton: I can't decide whether you are being sarcastic or naive. What has Obama done for the "least among us," the unborn. The "sanctity of life" is the only important issue. I pray that you will come to realize that. God bless.
With the GOP throwing around words like "dictator" and "Communist" all the time, it's laughable to see Republicans accusing Obama of "fearmongering."
this election is nothing but a bad joke, and the punchline is that we have a choice between two sides of the same counterfeit coin.
Come On, American Catholics! You've been sold a bill of goods! The GOP is NO MORE CHRISTIAN than the Dems are, and you need look no further than their candidate's history on gay rights, abortion and healthcare reform to prove it! He's every inch the lying weasel Obama is, maybe worse!! Don't just accept this garbage because the GOP says so! This election's a LOSS for us no matter WHO wins... LET'S START DEMANDING REAL REPRESENTATION instead of just stupidly supporting whoever the GOP throws at us!!
If flip flopping on any issue invalidates a candidate, than all of us are invalid people. It is not a matter of what we once thought but it is a matter of what we now think. Fear in this campaign is to overemphasize the flip flopping thing. Time and circumstances change our opinions all of the time. Thinking people admit when they are wrong and they change their minds. That is normal and a part of becoming educated in matters of fact. President Obama is rigid in his belief that abortion is a good thing. He will not ever flip flop on this particular issue. Is that good? Think about that if you are inclined to vote for him. Faith and reason determine the best candidate. Vote accordingly. Who is the candidate with the most faith and reason. Who is the one because he is reasonable is less fearful. That is the person fit to govern as that person is the more spiritually mature candidate.
I am sure I speak for millions of Christians who have been praying that your prediction comes to pass. I still can not fathom Catholics democrats going to Mass who could vote for such evil.......a man who supports killing of baby girls and boys who survive the attempt to kill them in the womb of their mother. Do these Catholic democrats not accept that Jesus was a "fetus" (which means "little person") and that they themselves were in such a position? And they can vote for an evil man who thinks he, not God, knows the definition of marriage? Can Catholic democrats truly compare sodomy with Holy Matrimony?
I assume Catholic democrats are obsessed with their pet social programs. I see an evil man whose attacks on the wealthy and on businesses are Hitlerian. My parents were penniless immigrants who came to the US and built a family business. They did build it-not the evil man in the White House. I am in the lower half of the economic spectrum. I need for the wealthy and businesses to do better, not worse. I need for new wealthy people and businesses to be created. This is what JFK said was the "rising tide that lifts all boats". The evil man in the White House now is leading us to a Greek-style economic collapse. I hope the Catholic democrats voting for him get more than thirty pieces of silver from their pet social program.
Now, more than ever the votes of fair minded people are essential, and that vote should be for Obama. So go vote. Vote for justice, accountability, a man who says what he means and does what he says. Vote for what is decent and right for America, all of America. Vote for the man who will stand up for women's rights, for equal rights, for equal pay, and the chance for a good life for all Americans, not just the wealthy. Vote for the future, for technology and education and a decent world for our children. If you think deeply and unselfishly you will see Obama is not only the better choice, but that he is truly special. You likely won't see the likes of a statesman of Obama's caliber again in your lifetime. In their own time most of the great presidents from both parties have been tested by events, and many faced a challenging path to election-- Lincoln, Jefferson, FDR, Kennedy. Obama will be compared by history to such men. Look at his steady hand in foreign policy. Getting the job done with Bin Laden. Ending wars successfully rather than starting them recklessly. Effective and respected when working with world leaders. Look at his courage in taking the difficult path with healthcare—so badly in need of change. Look at his foresight in moving America towards clean energy, and away from dependency on foreign oil, and environmental damage from fossil fuels. Take the long view, the unselfish view, the righteous and patriotic view. Vote for Obama.
