French officials are worried that a terror attack may be imminent in Paris after drones were spotted flying over several landmarks including the U.S. Embassy. Police were unable to locate the operators.
PARIS, FRANCE (Catholic Online) - The AFP is reporting that for the second night in a row, drones were spotted overflying French landmarks in Paris. The operation of drones is banned in Paris and police have been unable to identify who is flying them. However, it appears to be a coordinated effort, occurring at 11 PM on Tuesday and 2 AM on Wednesday.
The five sightings included the Place de la Concorde, Les Invalides Military Museum, near the Eiffel Tower, and near several city gates, according to AFP. Other flights are believed to have included the U.S. Embassy.

A flight over a landmark could be the work of a rogue tourist or film production crew, but the overflight of the U.S. Embassy makes the drones appear to be part of something more sinister. While authorities are discussing the possibility that the drones themselves could be used as weapons, another notion is that the drones are merely flying reconnaissance missions ahead of a coordinated attack.
The hypothesis makes sense. Terrorists often scout locations before striking and by flying at night they can hope to avoid detection.
The drones are apparently small, of a kind that can be operated by a person, but they are large enough to carry a camera. Film crews often use them in place of helicopters since they are much cheaper to operate. It is not known if the drones caught flying this week had cameras as none of them were intercepted.
Christian persecution is on the rise. Act now to stop it!
Although the authorities are officially downplaying any threat, France is uneasy. A string of terror attacks in Europe have left many dead and shocked the world. Additionally, the sophistication of the Islamic State and its terror apparatus also continues to surprise.
The Islamic State has called upon terror cells and lone wolf sympathizers to make attacks abroad. Recent attacks against Christians in Egypt have been claimed by the Islamic State. The Islamic State has also threatened the Vatican.
