Are you giving this to your kid? The worst fast food kid's meals
FREE Catholic Classes
New York is considering a bill to limit the calorie count of fast food children's meals to only 500 calories. In an investigation conducted by Eat This, Not That! Magazine, meals served for kids in fast food chains go far above the limit.

MUNTINLUPA, PHILIPPINES (Catholic Online) - According to The Daily Mail, the New York bill may include a requirement for restaurant chains to put vegetables, fruit or whole grains on menu items promoted with toys.
Writers from Eat This, Not That! Magazine went to some of the most popular fast food restaurants in the country to determine the Best and Worst Kids Meals in America.
Alarmingly, they found that some of the meals aimed toward kids contained almost the daily calorie recommendation in a single serving. The Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion recommends no more than 1,400 calories a day for active children between four and eight-years-old.
Potbelly Sandwich shop was the worst offender. Their PB&J sandwich has 1,340 calories, more than a healthy intake for most adults.
The New York University study said "happy meals" from various fast food places average about 600 calories, 36 percent of which are derived from fat.
California Pizza Kitchen's Kids Mushroom Pepperoni Sausage Pizza was found to be the worst pizza for children, with 610 calories. Writers also said that every pizza on the menu could have been included in the list since even the plain cheese pizza was 500 calories.
The worst burger meal was found at McDonald's. Their Mighty Kids Meal with a double cheeseburger, fries and fat-free chocolate milk jug, which weighs in at 790 calories.
Around 98 percent of the kids' meals did not meet the requirements set by the bill, researchers discovered. The "Healthy Happy Meals" Bill was proposed by New York City Council member Benjamin J. Kallo and is under consideration by the City Council.
