British art gallery director Jonathan Green felt he won another prize after discovering a seperate hidden Claude Monet piece after the two pastels he won from an auction were reframed. Green admitted the discovery was exciting, but remarked that the hidden pastel is not a museum-changing type. The pastels were from a 2014 auction in France.

MUNTINLUPA, PHILIPPINES (Catholic Online) - "We were very excited. Pastels by him are incredibly rare. These are a pointer to his future... You can see his fascination with light," Green, director of the Richard Green Gallery in London, told The Guardian.
However, he opted not to reveal the price he paid for the two paintings. The latest discovered Monet pastel was taped up under one of the sky pastels, depicting the place where the artist grew up.
According to Green, the pastel illustrating a jetty and the lighthouse at Le Havre in Normandy is probably among Monet's earliest works, it was dated back to the 1860s.
"He wasn't the great impressionist we know today; he was learning and experimenting," the gallery director said. "Is it going to be a museum-changing event? No. But it is very interesting."
Reports note the paintings were the artist's gift to Anne-Marie Durand-Ruel for her wedding in 1924. She is Paul Durand-Ruel's granddaughter, Monet's art dealer and the man credited for the creation of Impressionism.
The paintings remained with the family until they sold them off to the auction last year. Yet, it is still unclear whether they knew of the hidden Monet treasure under one of them.
The Guardian wrote that the three Monet pastels are to be publicly unveiled at the Masterpiece 2015 art fair in London, June 25. The pastels will be sold for about $2.2 million altogether, with the third boosting up the value.
