Michael Terheyden on 'Why I am Catholic: An Introduction' Comments
In January of 2012, Pope Benedict XVI said the world is facing a profound crisis of faith, and Christianity is in grave danger and risks oblivion. In the United States, open persecution of the Catholic Church has begun under the Obama administration. So what are we to do? One thing we can do is reflect on why we are Catholic. Continue Reading

God Bless you and yours, Mr. Terheyden.
[14] Isaiah's prophecy is fulfilled in them, which says: ‘You shall indeed hear but not understand you shall indeed look but never see.
[15] Gross is the heart of this people, they will hardly hear with their ears, they have closed their eyes, lest they see with their eyes and hear with their ears and understand with their heart and be converted, and I heal them.’
[16] “But blessed are your eyes, because they see, and your ears, because they hear.*
Matthew 13:14-16 (NAB)
My Catholic faith leads me to believe......
There is no doubt the day has arrived and we are in for the full blown attack on Christianity..
Also the media mounted pressure to remove all values of faith which have held civil society together for centuries is coming from powerful politically controlled sources. So how do we defend those values and fight to retain and/or reestablish sanity? If it is simply the election of public officials who share our values there is little hope.
Why? They have little chance of being elected in todays political environment. Why? Because the media will literally crucify any candidate who tries to run on a platform that is associated with and/ or professes Christian religious values.
The devil is in the dictates and since we have willingly supported him taking control of public education and even invited him into our universities over a period of decades ignoring his progressive invasion and manipulation of Hollywood, television, and the media he now, with a majority of the population empty of most true Christian character, can and does have the power to identify, define, and dictate for and to the general public what is of value and who is to be trusted with their lives and future.
We have lost our perception of individual souls as Gods children along with embracing our union with the one body of Christ. We have sacrificed our unique individuality now convinced it has little value if not part of the contrived and coveted commonality espoused by those controlling what we see, hear, read, and imagine which in turn connects us with the collective power of the majority community.
Consequently our hope and need is to be humble enough to get on our knees and call upon our heavenly father to come to our aid. He alone is able to stem the tide of evil which is sweeping our nation and indeed the world today. We have too long relied upon our own good intentions which are no match for the evil one when not combined with sincere efforts to openly acknowledge the glory and majesty of our God and his divine son our Lord and salvation in our daily lives. It is time for each of us to pray and as if we were the tipping point of the battle for our country for if America is brought down there will never again be a nation capable of combating the tyrants of the world who seek to suppress and enslave people with godless government.
Our society is collapsing because and Christianity weakening because most profess with our lips but live opposite of what we claim to believe. It's easy to claim to be Catholic..it's even harder to live it faithfully in a pagan society where everything goes,When colleges filled with atheist professors and immoral Hollywood writers preach on a daily basis from our nations campuses and our television sets and movie screens it's easy to be mislead or confused. When mass is only one hour one day a week for most..theres too much competition from the adversary. We keep looking for an anti-Christ to appear, but it's been here for a while now..on your television which promotes sin as entertainment..movies,schools and now openly in our govt..As Catholics it's up to us to look deeper into our faith..what do we believe and why..and then to judge ourselves to measure where we're at in our relationship with God..and then to do something about it if we measure up poorly. We could start with pennance and prayer.Saying Jesus is Lord is not enough to be saved..this is the mistake of the protestants..a dangerous one that has led much of Christianity into lukewarmness and the acceptance of sin as appropiate..abortion,contraception,homosexual marriage etc.
Michael Terheyden's article is beautifully written and leaves the reader anticipating future installments in the series. As we all try to understand the collapse of our society around us and what Christ is calling us to do in this time of crisis, Terheyden's words from Scripture are timely and timeless, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life."
May God help His children and deliever us from any society bent on attacking the church of God.
